Rocky Mount is a living history museum. We offer first person interpretive tours of our historic home and out buildings. We also teach crafts and demonstrate skills from the 18th century. Rocky Mount shows what life was like on the frontier in the 18th century.

Program Type: Arts Appreciation
Program Description:
The Living History Tour is a program that offers students the opportunity to interact with the Cobb family in 1791. Students are given a brief orientation about the Cobb family and the history of the area. The tour is an interpretation of the lifestyle of the 18th century where students are guided through the historic home and outbuildings by a costumed interpreter. This program takes 1.5-2 hours.

Program Type: Arts Appreciation
Program Description:
The tour and craft is a combination of the Living History Tour and also allows students a hands-on experience with an 18th century activity appropriate to the age of the student. Examples of activities offered are: candle making, soap making, 18th century games, quill pen writing, pewter casting, and fireplace cooking. This program takes 3-4 hours and does include time for students to eat lunch.

Program Type: Arts Curriculum
Program Description:
The sampler program is designed especially for groups of 90 or more. This option provides the Living History Tour along with special demonstrations of 18th century skills and crafts. Examples of demonstrations that are presented are: blacksmithing, spinning, longhunter, weaving, militia, and 18th century medicine. This program takes 3-4 hours and does include time for students to eat lunch.
