About

As the only institution of its kind in North America, the Metal Museum leads the way in the celebration, recognition, and promotion of the field of fine metalwork. The Metal Museum achieves its mission through four interrelated programming areas – rotating exhibitions of historic and contemporary metalwork; the Permanent Collection of objects, books, folios, and archives; the Metals Studios comprised of a Blacksmith Shop, Foundry, small metals lab, and design lab that provide educational opportunities for metalsmiths through artistic creation; and vibrant community education and engagement programming for learners of all ages.

Program Overview

We offer tours, hands-on activities, professional development workshops, and classes in blacksmithing, casting, welding, and fine metal.

A woman helps a girl put on a beaded bracelet at a table covered with craft supplies and metal art, while another child sits nearby. They are in a bright, sunlit room at the Metal Museum. A woman stands and gestures at the front of a classroom, leading a group of adults seated at tables and working on colorful metal art projects in a bright, modern room. A blacksmith from the Metal Museum demonstrates metalworking at an outdoor fair, using a forge mounted on a trailer. People watch nearby as informational materials are displayed on a table in the foreground under a large tree.
