Tanisha Ward (soprano) is a native Memphian and Classically-trained vocal musician. She holds a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss). Mrs. Ward has performed professionally for over eight years with various companies around the Mid-South including Opera Memphis and Playhouse on the Square. She has also performed professionally in Europe and Asia. Mrs. Ward has sung supporting and lead roles during her career. Her presentation “Unexpected Treasures” focuses on classical vocal repertoire. Her performance include works in French, German, Italian and English, with music history spanning from the Baroque era to the twentieth century. Ward believes the next generation of “opera greats” could be sitting in the audience, and this exposure to the genre could be just the spark the student needs to get them started on their musical journey. She also encourages feedback from the audience during the “question & answer” session after the performance.
