Program Description:
The Playground King provides an engaging introduction to how words and music work together to tell stories. Featuring music by famous composers, the story is about four friends learning to get along within a playground setting. Opera Memphis brings a full set, costumes, professional opera singers, and a pianist to your school to put on the 35-minute production! The Playground King and supporting materials align with Tennessee Curriculum Standards for Music, Theatre, and English Language Arts.

Program Description:
Opera Memphis’ Black Roots of Opera is a touring production that focuses on an influential African-American opera singer. The program incorporates lessons in history, music, diversity, and tolerance. Perhaps most importantly, it introduces children to music, history, and literacy in a direct and powerful way. Black Roots of Opera is appropriate for students in grades K-12 and can be adapted to fit almost any venue.
