Teachers. Do your students love Super Heroes, Science Fiction, Fantasy, Film Making, Animation, Robotics, or LEGO? If so, then join us at the Memphis Comic and Fantasy Convention for GEEK 101. The Coolest School Field Trip In The Galaxy! Super Hero, Science Fiction, and Fantasy stories can be great vehicles for exploring classic themes, and visual storytelling. One of the missions of the Memphis Comic and Fantasy Convention, is to use the Geek genres, to foster a love of literature, and the arts. Each November, hundreds of students attend our Geek 101 Field Trips at the MCFC, and enjoy presentations by filmmakers, actors, comic book artists, robotics experts, and other experts in the Geek genres. We also host in-school workshops throughout the year called “Storytelling in Comics and Film”.

The Memphis Comic and Fantasy Convention is not only great fun, but is also informative, educational, and offers students the unique opportunity to meet and learn from Film and Television Actors, Authors, Comic Book Artists, Space Scientists, Robotics Experts, and all sorts of other interesting professionals.

Students participating in GEEK 101, will sit in on interactive presentations from these professionals, and also participate in many Hands On activities.
