Sample Programs Offered
Program Type: Arts Appreciation
Program Description:
September through May, tours are provided for groups of 10 to 60 students in grades pre-K through 12, Wednesdays through Fridays, between 10 am and 2 pm. Groups must be accompanied by at least one adult chaperone for every 10 students. All scheduled school groups receive free admission (unless otherwise noted). Tours run 45 minutes and tours with a hands-on activity run approximately two hours.
During the summer months (June and July only), docent led tours may be scheduled Wednesday and Thursday between 10 am and 2 pm. The same parameters apply to group size and grades as indicated above; however art activities are not included during the summer months. Guided tours are scheduled based on availability of volunteer docents.
Additionally, students who come to the Brooks with their class will receive a “Come Back Card.” The cards are good for free family admission for up to five people so students can come back to the museum and have a meaningful experience with their families.

Program Description:
Self-guided tours are led by classroom teachers, home school parents, or community leaders. Self-guided tours must be scheduled in advance to ensure availability of gallery space. Please note that the Brooks’ docent-led tours have priority access to museum spaces and objects. We strongly recommend scheduling self-guided group tours in the afternoon to allow for maximum freedom in the galleries. Teachers are encouraged to visit the Brooks before their scheduled self-guided visits in order to make plans, and admission is free if you show your teaching badge/identification.

Program Type: Arts Appreciation
Program Description:
Art Builds Creativity (ABC) is a museum-school collaboration in it’s thirty-seventh year of service at The Memphis Brooks Museum of Art. Since its inception in 1979, ABC has grown from a program that served 120 students and was conducted by volunteers, to a program that reaches many schools each year in Memphis. This museum-school partnership brings quality art education to Title 1 schools in the Memphis area.
The ABC program consists of four sessions with a museum educator throughout the school year: two in the regular school classroom and two at the Brooks.
