Latasha Bester is a practicing dance athlete and poet. She is program director for The Floor is Yours, a monthly open mic style mixed media performance series. She is a lead educator with Full Circle as of 2015 with 9 months of creating programming there, but she has worked as an independent teaching artist & fitness specialist within Hamilton County since 2012. She has served as a featured dancer in several pas de deuxs with PKS and Velvet Poetry Productions, a dance soloist with The Bar Exam, and serves as head choreographer for musical revues with N2 the Woods Productions since January of 2015. She appeared in Red at Barking Legs Theater in 2013 & as a dancer, actress, & vocalist in The Power Piece: Unity with Lucid Tales Productions in May 2015.

Program Title: Exploring Egypt

Program Type: Arts Integration

Program Description:

Exploring Egypt is a program that introduces shapes, measuring and art techniques while teaching students about Egpyt. Students will learn about the Nile River and other important facts about Egypt. Students will be assessed on what they learned and will be expected to display the skill of using rulers and other methods of measuring and also blending techniques.

Program Title: What Is Poetry

Program Type: Arts Integration

Program Description:

Students will be introduced to poetry using Shel Silverstein. In this module, they will be learning several different skills such as rhyming, timing, and sequencing. Students will also be challenged to learn how to recite poetry and learn different ways to memorize. They will be introduced to singing in rounds in the example below.

Program Title: What Do You DO With a Problem

Program Type: Arts Integration

Program Description:

Students learn how to face everyday problems while also learning cause and effect. Students will draw a picture of their choosing and then cut it into shapes creating a “problem”. They will then put their puzzles together creating something beautiful from their problem then they will be encouraged to swap puzzles with a classmate. Students will be expected to demonstrate proper cutting and scissor handling also they will be building interpersonal skills by learning to share.
