Kristin O’Donnell Tubb www.kristintubb.com
Kristin O’Donnell Tubb interacts with thousands of students each year, both in-person and virtually. Her mission when teaching is twofold: reminding students that everyone has a unique story, and they can “write” that story any number of ways (poetry, novels, cartoons, music, photography, art, even on social media!). Kristin is passionate about centering and raising each STUDENT’s unique voice, and so focuses on the joy of creation and playing with words. (Creativity before construction!) Her workshops and assemblies address practical elements of writing, such as: the three essential elements of story; techniques like point-of-view and setting, and the daily habits of writers (and how students are likely performing many of these habits as well!) Kristin’s presentations are part inspiration, part imagination, and truly fun! You can learn more at kristintubb.com

Program Description:
Everyone is a writer. This session shows students how they are already using techniques and tactics that professional writers use every day (texting is writing dialogue, making to-do lists is writing a first draft, rereading a favorite text is like revision, etc.) In “Everyone’s a Writer,” we discuss the myth that writing is a talent, and the discussion emphasizes craft over construction,
encouraging EVERY person to share his/her unique voice.
