Jerry Bowman
Teaching Artist

Jerry is an actor, writer and a director and mime with 25 years of experience. You’ll see him up at Rock City for the Rocktober Fest Celebration in October and The Enchanted Garden of Lights in December as Jerry the toy soldier. Jerry has appeared in over 50 T.V. commercials and numerous training films. Long Horn Steaks, Napa Auto Parts, Burger King, BP. He has also been seen in a number of local commercials. Siskens Hospital, Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union, and recently Cellular One, Warren and Griffin, Mattress Superstores. Bowman is also a teaching artist and has completed residencies in number of schools in Hamilton and Bradley County. These residencies include mime, theater, Literacy through improvisation and on camera acting / script creation, mask workshops. Jerry is currently writing as well as acting in a series of training films for TVA Security.

This interactive performance introduces students to the magical world of pantomime. Jerry Bowman performs his unique one-man show that explores storytelling through silent acting. Be amazed as students are engaged with this adventurous show as dynamic, diverse characters from ‘Taxi’ to ‘Treasure Hunt’ come to life through music, mime and movement.

Program Description:

Who’s Story is It Anyway?
Students will use improvisational games and techniques as an in-road to storytelling to create original texts. Exploring clear ideas and details, students will imagine and write short stories with emphasis on sequence and development. This residency may be tailored to integrate language arts, history, science, or social studies concepts and standards.
