Program Type: Arts Curriculum, Arts Integration, Arts Appreciation
Program Description:
This residency is culminated with a live performance of Hues of Hughes. The residency is 3 sessions, 2 before the performance and 1 afterwards. Hues of Hughes explores the poetry of Langston Hughes through dance. Some of the poetry is set to music, some is recited without music, and some of the dance pieces are done with no sound at all. Students explore how poetry evokes feelings, and then how feelings inspire thoughts of different colors. The performance ties all of the pieces together.
