Elaine is an educator with 35+ years of experience teaching students of all ages. She believes the creative process involves using problem skills whether working in clay, painting, drawing or writing. She has developed arts integration instruction and curriculum-based projects working closely with other teachers and their students. She has also provided professional development programs for educators. Her enthusiasm is contagious as she knows that the creative process builds new skill development, positive self-esteem and the enhanced pleasure in working with others. Elaine has always enjoyed the challenge of making learning fun and rewarding for her students. She believes that using multiple techniques, strategies, materials and resources enables her to reach and teach all students. Program Type: Arts Integration
Program Description:
This hands on workshop allows students to understand and experience the collaboration between an author and an illustrator. Students will utilize listening skills, verbal communication skills and creative writing skills to complete the tasks. When acting as an author, they will demonstrate appropriate grade level skills relating to the language arts curriculum. The art component will be introduced as they also play the role of an illustrator. In this case, students must listen to and read information provided by a peer to complete a drawing or painting of a fictional character.

Program Description:
This program will allow students to identify letters of the alphabet and use them to create artistic objects from self drying clay. Through teacher guided activities, they will use their artistic alphabet creations to recognize words with the beginning sounds of their alphabet pieces.

Program Description:
This hands on lesson will allow students to create their own fictional character out of clay and then to verbalize and write about their fictional character. They will first create an art piece of a fictional or imaginary friend from clay and then using language and writing skills, give the character a story line.
