Established in 1983, The Chattanooga Theatre Centre’s Youth Theatre brings the excitement and passion of live theatrical performances to school-age young people. Four productions are produced each year by, for and about young people. Each play is performed on two weekends as well as four days of school matinees. These plays are drawn from the best in children’s literature and explore the world from the unique perspective of a child.

Really Rosie

Book and Lyrics by Maurice Sendak

April 29 through May 8, 2016

From the author of “Where the Wild Things Are” and the Grammy Award winning musical icon, whose album, “Tapestry” held the record for most weeks at No. 1 by a female artist for more than 20 years, comes a fantastically fun and funny musical. On a hot July Saturday, the kids from The Nutshell Library are bored and need something to do. Rosie, the sassiest kid on her block of Brooklyn’s Avenue P, entertains the group and herself by acting out fantasies of being a Hollywood star and decides to produce and imaginary Oscar winning movie musical about her life and in particular the demise of her brother named Chicken Soup, to be called Did you Hear What Happened to Chicken Soup? A delightfully silly musical based on pre-school books but delivered in such a way that it will entertain kids of all ages!
