Beth Anne Musiker made her Nashville debut while appearing in the touring Broadway production of Roger Miller’s Big River, sharing the stage with Mr. Miller, himself. Other career highlights include the national tour of Beehive, and performing in Germany as the Wall came down, as well as many regional theatre productions. Beth Anne’s recording of Nothing Compares 2 U received airplay on country radio stations across the USA for more than 8 months in 2016. Locally, Beth Anne performed the National Anthem for the Nashville Predators in their inaugural season, appeared in Cowgirls and The Sound of Music at Tennessee Repertory Theatre, and recently appeared as astronomer Annie Cannon in a production of Silent Sky.

In addition to continuing her own artistic career, Beth Anne has developed a wide-ranging career as an arts educator and trainer. She is a live performance coach, director and music director for middle and high school musicals, and a lead teaching artist for the Tennessee Performing Arts Center’s Education Department (TPAC Ed).
Beth Anne has served as a director/coach to both staff and students for the Mt. Pleasant Middle School for the Visual and Performing Arts/Kids on Stage program a production of Annie Jr. As part of a team of lead teaching artists, Beth Anne designs and delivers TPAC Ed’s Arts-Integration Summer and Fall Institutes, providing professional development for TN educators. Beth Anne recently authored the TPAC Education Guidebooks for Kaytek the Wizard, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble and Inherit the Wind for use by educators in conjunction with TPAC’s 2017-2018 Season for Young People.

Through her company, StageSmart Teaching Artists, Beth Anne provides experiential engagement and education programs to Broadway and touring Broadway shows. StageSmart Teaching Artists, a member of The Broadway League, is proud to have created the official Study Guide for the seasonal touring production of ELF The Musical and a Program of Creative Adventures for the Broadway touring production of Finding Neverland.

Ms. Musiker is thrilled to have been selected to attend the Fourth International Teaching Artist Conference (ITAC4) in New York City. She has presented at several conferences, including three consecutive Tennessee Arts Commission Creativity in Education Institutes (2011-2013), as well as the Southeast Center for Arts in Education Forum 2010: Arts @ The Core of 21st Century Learning.

A graduate of Northwestern University’s prestigious theatre program, Beth Anne is a proud member of actors’ unions, AEA, SAG-AFTRA and AGVA. She has served as the Nashville Liaison for AEA and currently serves as a Nashville Board Member of SAG-AFTRA. Program Title: Defining Home – Exploring Personal Narrative through Songwriting

Program Type: Arts Appreciation

Program Description:

This program includes 2-5 classroom visits culminating in a live performance by Beth Anne Musiker, incorporating student crafted work and performance. The lessons use popular songs on the subject of “home” as both the focus and catalyst for the work. Learners will use techniques of personal narrative writing to ignite their own lyric writing. Each session includes inquiry, art making and reflection in the context of the selected songs and students’ lives. The live performance by Beth Anne and students provides a fresh approach and a deepened connection to songs about the places, people and things we all call home.

Program Title: Musical Theatre Production Residency

Program Type: Arts Curriculum

Program Description:

This extended residency partners and guides both educators and students toward a successful musical theatre production and will be tailored to the specific needs of your school’s participants and production. In this musical theatre residency, Beth Anne collaborates with all participants to elevate and deepen the learning opportunity and, as a result, the entire production. Beth Anne Musiker’s participation begins with the team’s pre-production meetings, continues throughout the rehearsal process and is completed on opening night. Ms. Musiker has successfully employed these methods at the elementary, middle school and high school levels.

Program Title: From the Page to the Stage – Bringing the News to Life through Theatre Scenes and Songs

Program Type: Arts Appreciation

Program Description:

Borrowing from the WPA “Living Newspaper,” this Arts-Integrated residency of 2-5 lessons, brings the news to life through improvisation and scripting. Students will work from selected newspaper articles pertinent to their course content in social studies to create theatre scenes. Students will add songs to their scene work to amplify the message. Students will be guided step-by-step to grow their creative skill set while deepening their understanding of the impact of world and local events on our lives. Several scenes may also be woven together to create an entire performance that may be shared with other students and/or the community.
