She has a wealth of experience as a teaching artist, serving as a director and music director for MS and HS musicals, as a long-time teaching artist for TPAC and founder of StageSmart. Work with TPAC includes pre-K – 12 classroom visits, authoring performance guidebooks and providing professional development to educators. Both onstage and in the classroom, her goal is to deeply connect people to the arts. Beth Anne is ready to collaborate with you to serve the needs of your learners.

Program Title: Defining Home – Exploring Personal Narrative through Songwriting

Program Type: Arts Appreciation

Program Description:

This program includes 2-5 classroom visits culminating in a live performance by Beth Anne Musiker, incorporating student crafted work and performance. The lessons use popular songs on the subject of “home” as both the focus and catalyst for the work. Learners will use techniques of personal narrative writing to ignite their own lyric writing. Each session includes inquiry, art making and reflection in the context of the selected songs and students’ lives. The live performance by Beth Anne and students provides a fresh approach and a deepened connection to songs about the places, people and things we all call home.

Program Title: Musical Theatre Production Residency

Program Type: Arts Curriculum

Program Description:

This extended residency partners and guides both educators and students toward a successful musical theatre production and will be tailored to the specific needs of your school’s participants and production. In this musical theatre residency, Beth Anne collaborates with all participants to elevate and deepen the learning opportunity and, as a result, the entire production. Beth Anne Musiker’s participation begins with the team’s pre-production meetings, continues throughout the rehearsal process and is completed on opening night. Ms. Musiker has successfully employed these methods at the elementary, middle school and high school levels.

Program Title: From the Page to the Stage – Bringing the News to Life through Theatre Scenes and Songs

Program Type: Arts Appreciation

Program Description:

Borrowing from the WPA “Living Newspaper,” this Arts-Integrated residency of 2-5 lessons, brings the news to life through improvisation and scripting. Students will work from selected newspaper articles pertinent to their course content in social studies to create theatre scenes. Students will add songs to their scene work to amplify the message. Students will be guided step-by-step to grow their creative skill set while deepening their understanding of the impact of world and local events on our lives. Several scenes may also be woven together to create an entire performance that may be shared with other students and/or the community.
