For the past 19 years, the Buckman Performing and Fine Arts Center has offered over 150 educational outreach efforts to more than 24,750 Memphis area children who participated in engaging, interactive activities with world-class artists, free of charge. We endeavor to increase our programming each year to share these internationally acclaimed performers with as many students in the community as possible.

Fisk Jubilee Singers

For 153 years, the Fisk Jubilee Singers have toured the globe. They were featured in The American Experience, a PBS award-winning television documentary series in a program titled “Singers: Sacrifice and Glory.” The chorus has received three Grammy nominations, won a Dove Award, and received the National Medal of Arts presented by President George W. Bush. Over the past 20 years, they have recorded alongside Johnny Lang, Neil Young, Van Morrison, Danny Glover, Hank Williams Jr., Faith Hill, and Shania Twain, just to name a few. Their transcendent ability to unite genres and people makes them an inspiration to all who witness their live performances.
