2026 Updated Teaching Artist Application Form

Please build out your TAR application in the TAR Draft Application Worksheet (find in TAR Guidelines) prior to filling out this application. This is to help prevent losing any work or information as you gather all required application materials and answer the required questions listed in the application. Follow directions explicitly. Copy and paste from your Draft Application Worksheet into the application. Complete the application in one sitting.

  • Name of Artist/Arts Group/Arts Organization: This should not be your performance name.
  • Please carefully select each county you either currently service or would be able to realistically service.
  • Attach to application. Image size should be under 2Mb.
    Accepted file types: jpeg, png, jpg, Max. file size: 2 MB.
  • *100 words or less and must be written in third person. The bio content should focus on your experiences as a teaching artist/arts group in arts education/arts presentation. This bio should be a brief introduction to your current work and contain only information that is relevant to the TN Teaching Artist Roster’s mission and purpose. Review carefully as the bio will be visible on website.
  • Provide a brief summary (1-2 sentences) of your projects or offerings, specifically for schools. This will be highlighted on your page and will be visible to Student Ticket Subsidy applicants. Example: "Teaching artist residencies focused on arts integration combining dance and science for elementary schools" OR list your season offerings with dates.

  • Addresses will only be visible on Roster Profiles for arts groups and arts organizations. Individual artists' addresses will not be visible on the roster. However, the Commission does need access to an individual artist's mailing address.

  • The Commission must have the teaching artist's direct email/Director of Education or Programs on file for communication purposes. Do not put your agent or administrator's email.
  • Attach your resume, two (2) pages maximum. Please upload your Resume as a PDF only. Arts organizations and groups should not submit a resume but must submit a website address below.

    *All artistic work samples should be created within the last three (3) years. *Please title your work samples in the following format ONLY: ArtistName_ArtisticDiscipline_WorkSampleTitle *Visual artists, upload at least one (1) up to three (3) photos of your work. *Literary artists should upload at least one (1) sample of written work. *Folk/Traditional Artists, upload at least one (1) photo or provide a link to a video sample of your work in the next field. *Performing artists should paste a link to your video or sound file from a third party website such as SoundCloud, Youtube or Vimeo. We can not accept media files.
