Nashville Opera celebrates over two decades of dedicated arts education with its seasonal tour and vital outreach programs. Nashville Opera’s talented Mary Ragland Emerging Artists create memorable learning experiences that incorporate every discipline while expanding imaginations. All programing includes four professional opera singers and pianist and the touring youth opera comes directly to you complete with sets and costumes! Participating schools will receive an extensive study guide to prepare for the performance and supplement learning in the classroom. Schools may also request a post-show Q&A session free of charge.

Program Title: Opera On Tour

Program Type: Arts Curriculum

Program Description:

Introduce your students to opera with LITTLE RED’S MOST UNUSUAL DAY! We’ll come directly to your school with full sets, costumes, four professional opera singers, and a pianist—all members of Nashville Opera’s acclaimed Mary Ragland Emerging Artist Program. Prepare for 40 minutes of opera magic sung in English!

Based on the classic fairy tale and with engaging plot twists and lively (as well as famous!) music by Offenbach and Rossini, LITTLE RED delivers a good time and a timely lesson about caring for your family AND planet.

BEAR HUG/ABRAZO DE OSO, our first bilingual children’s opera, tells the story of four bears—all from different countries with different appearances and languages—who discover that we are all more alike than we are unalike! BEAR HUG delivers a good time and a timely moral that our hearts are the same despite outward differences.

Program Title: Opera Out Loud!

Program Description:

Nashville Opera offers OPERA OUT LOUD to middle, high school, as well as college students throughout Middle Tennessee. This 45-minute introductory program features arias, ensembles, and musical theatre pieces from the most beloved works in the repertoire! This program is designed to be presented during a single class period for a large choral or arts audience. Perfect for a recital hall or large choral classroom, students have the opportunity to ask questions after the performance and learn about life as a professional singer and what it takes to be a successful musician. We come to your school with four professional opera singers and a pianist. Participating schools will receive an extensive study guide to prepare for the performance and supplement learning in the classroom.

Program Description:

Enjoy a fast-paced ride through the history of opera using video and audio clips, fun facts and exciting back-stage stories! This program can be tailored to any topic that connects to your curriculum or classroom needs.
