Program Title: Opera On Tour

Program Type: Arts Curriculum

Program Description:

Introduce your students to opera with John Davies’ fun operatic retelling of the classic children’s fairy tale, streamed safely online.

The three little pigs—Giovanni, Despina, and Cherubino—are all grown up and must now build their own houses. The first disastrous attempts land them in direct contact with the infamous Wolfgang Big Bad! By working together (and using good reference materials!) the pigs are able to outwit the villain. With an emphasis on literacy, THE THREE LITTLE PIGS teaches children the importance of teamwork and that with the right book, any challenge can be overcome!

John Davies incorporates famous tunes from Mozart’s DON GIOVANNI, THE MAGIC FLUTE, AND THE MARRIAGE OF FIGARO, making THE THREE LITTLE PIGS a children’s favorite. This 40-minute crowd-pleasing comedy is sung in English and, for the first time in Nashville Opera history, will be available for classes to stream online.

BONUS: Schools may also request a 15-minute live post-performance question-and-answer session with the artists, free of charge. Participating schools receive a study guide for teachers to prepare students for the performance.

This program aligns with Tennessee Curriculum Standards for Music, Theatre, Dance, Visual Arts, Reading, Writing, History, Social Studies, Math, and Sciences.

The dates are 2/12/21 through 3/19/21.
Times are between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM
The cost is $250, and $400 for two performances on the same day.
