Drummer Zig Wajler to judge for the International Hit Like A Girl Drumming Contest

Tennessee Arts Commission teaching artist and drummer Zig Wajler of Hands On with Zig has been named as a judge for the 2017 International Hit Like A Girl Drumming Contest. This is the sixth annual global drumming contest for female percussionists. Its purpose is to spotlight female drummers/percussionists and encourage drumming and lifelong musicianship for girls and women, regardless of age or playing level. The event is produced by Hit Like A Girl Contest in conjunction with founding sponsors DRUM! Magazine, TRX Cymbals, and Tom Tom: The Magazine of Female Drummers.

Zig Wajler is an educator, author, composer, and professional musician who plays percussion, drumset and piano and offers contemporary cross-curricular learning strategies and instruction for youth. He is an award-winning instructor whose students have been featured in national magazines.

As a musician, Zig has performed and/or recorded with James Payne (#1 Gospel Single), Warner Bros./Warner Chappell Music, SONY, Chad Smith/Chili Peppers, Shelia E, Shari Lewis and Lambchop, Thomas the Tank Engine, Bob McGrath/Sesame Street, The Animal Band, The Moffatts, Jeffery Steele, Grammy winner Shawn Camp, Grammy winner David Payne, Steve Earle, Johnny Russell, MaryAnn Kennedy, Dawn Thomas, Chonda Pierce, Terry McMillan, and The Torrance Symphony among others. He has earned endorsements and is a clinician for Pearl Drums and Pearl Percussion, Sabian Cymbals, Pro-Mark drumsticks, The Percussion Marketing Council, and Zendrum controllers.
