2017 Poetry Out Loud

The final countdown is here for the Poetry Out Loud (POL) Nationals next week. We look forward to representing TN at the finals along with 52 other finalists from every state plus Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands participating in this year’s POL. We couldn’t be prouder of our state winner this year. He is an accomplished young man of many talents.

Marquavious Moore is a two-time POL state finalist from Harding Academy in Memphis. He will compete in the Poetry Out Loud Semifinals on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, in Washington, D.C. with hopes to go on to the finals later in the week. Marquavious, a true Renaissance man, plays football, runs track, does competitive cheer, sings in the chorus, and was the lead in the school musical. There is no doubt in our minds that this young man has a bright future. We learned at this year’s state finals that he will leave for New York City in the fall to continue his academic and football career at Columbia University. We wish him luck in ALL of his future endeavors.

Please join us by cheering on Marquavious Moore at the semifinals on Tuesday. Marquavious will be 11th to recite during the time slot of 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Sign up here to host a viewing party in your English class and tag us with #POL17 or #TNARTS50.
